48x36” Acrylic on canvas

The first couple of days out west were grey, a drizzle fell occasionally and then the sun came out and disappeared again. Looking out across the land much of the beauty was hidden but, it was still there, imposing, pure, rugged… flashes of colour and sunlight came and went… and the hills were just waiting to be seen.

8x36” Acrylic on canvas (unframed)

This painting was in my head before it was on a canvas. A memory of the previous few days in Donegal, searching for the hills, blue skies and sunshine amongst the grey drizzle which, was there for hours and then would suddenly depart revealing glimmers, pastels, shades of pink and then, the sunshine we were waiting for.

And Donegal is beautiful no matter what the weather does, as if God himself is always looking over it.
