2012 – A Work in progress…….

“When I look back over my own life, I’m amazed at God’s patience. I would have given up on myself ages ago. Maybe you feel the same way. Sometimes we shock ourselves when we see how selfish and sinful we are. God has always known what’s underneath, but he isn’t deterred. He loves to see us grow, and every now and then it takes some pruning from him in order to realign our hearts with his and be able to produce more fruit in the future.”
[quote: Terry Virgo - source]

May we see how selfish and sinful we can be………may we recognise when pruning is needed………

And may we be as patient with others as God is with us…..

How do you read the Bible?

I need your help………….I need your answers…………

How do you read the Bible?

Do you follow one of the well-known dated guides that Churches often distribute and Bookshops sell?

Do you have an app on your iPhone or iPad? Do you use a Daily Reading Bible?

Or do you wing it and have a chaotic and disorganised plan that relies on God’s guidance but, is really not kind of plan at all?

Ok, please help with answers……if possible send me links to the stuff you mention/use/endorse/recommend…..

And the Lord shall guide thee continually…….

“We are not merely to be guided sometimes, but we are to have a perpetual monitor; not occasionally to be left to our own understanding, and so to wander, but we are continually to hear the guiding voice of the Great Shepherd; and if we follow close at His heels, we shall not err, but be led by a right way to a city to dwell in. If you have to change your position in life; if you have to emigrate to distant shores; if it should happen that you are cast into poverty, or uplifted suddenly into a more responsible position than the one you now occupy; if you are thrown among strangers, or cast among foes, yet tremble not, for “the Lord shall guide thee continually.” There are no dilemmas out of which you shall not be delivered if you live near to God, and your heart be kept warm with holy love. He goes not amiss who goes in the company of God. Like Enoch, walk with God, and you cannot mistake your road. You have infallible wisdom to direct you, immutable love to comfort you, and eternal power to defend you. “Jehovah”—mark the word—”Jehovah shall guide thee continually.”

All that’s left to be said is……

Happy Christmas folks……….

2011 has been a blast with the simpsons working two jobs each, my [so far] successful weight-loss programme, new friends, new skills, new designs, aeropress coffee, great music, big challenges and beautiful blessings……

We have much to be thankful for………and, many to be thankful to

Happy New Year…..

Some ways you can ruin your rep on the internet…..

Ok, you can apply this to any form of social media……….and, I could quickly look through my ‘followers/friends‘ and find people who are doing these very things………….in fact, I’ve done some of this myself………….

But, if I expect anyone to take my faith in Christ seriously then I need to be at least, considering my behaviour……..

So, here are some ways to destroy your reputation on the internet….

Post something out of frustration in the heat of the moment. We all get frustrated at times. And if you want to engage people authentically, you need to “keep it real.” But Facebooking when angry, frustrated, or hurt is never a good idea. Take a few minutes (or a few hours) to cool down, and then think again if you really want to use Facebook to vent.

Embarrass yourself. Expect everyone in your congregation and your community to see everything you post to Facebook. So, don’t post anything you wouldn’t be comfortable saying or showing from the pulpit on a Sunday morning.

Criticise other churches in the community. Every church has a different mission, ministry philosophy, style of worship, and theology. But we all share one Lord, one faith, and one baptism. We should be known for our unity not our division.

Act like the language/morality police. Your Facebook friends are not perfect. They are going to swear, post questionable pictures of themselves, and share things you don’t agree with. If something is really bad, consider contacting the person privately about it, but don’t call people out publicly for what is unfortunately common behaviour in our culture.
