I walked home with a smile on my face…..

I tweeted this earlier….

“great catch-up with @emmsy & @connormcc this morning – really encouraging to see & hear their stories as they get older & their lives change”

We don’t hang out as often as we should…

I don’t want to sound patronising because I’m the “old guy“………..but, it really brings joy to my heart to see young adults who are really switched on, engaged with life/work/culture and……whose faith is woven deep into their lives and conversations……..

I walked home with a smile on my face……..encouraged, challenged, hopeful……thankful

Levon Helm…

Tonight the news all over the internet is that Levon Helm is in the final stages of a long battle with cancer……..

One of the most important musicians in the history of music, from one of the most important bands in the history of music!

Sad news…

Some reflections on 1 Timothy 6…..

“But, Godliness with contentment is great gain……..” (v6)

Money and possessions are not great gain………..popularity is not great gain……

“….those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires……”  (v9)

Do I flee the things that might snare me?

Do I “pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness” instead? (v11)

Am I taking hold of the ‘eternal life‘ to which I was ‘called?

Do I remember that I “made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses” and therefore give the ‘King of Kings and Lord of Lords’ the honour he deserves? (15-16)

Am I guarding the ‘deposit entrusted’ to me? Avoiding the ‘irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge?’ Or is it causing me to swerve from the faith? (v20-21)

Grace be with you

Big challenges today….

When the tongue is in motion….

“More of a man is seen in his words than in anything else belonging to him; you may look into his face and be mistaken, you may visit his house and not discover him, you may scan his business and misunderstand him; but if you hear his daily conversation you shall soon know him. The heart babbles out its secret when the tongue is in motion.”  C.H. Spurgeon

‘seen in his words’

It’s one thing for me to tweet Bible verses and write blog posts just like this one……….and, to give the appearance of being very spiritual……

But what about those who spend the most time with me? What do they hear? What do they see and hear in my words? In my daily conversation?

James Street South Bar+Grill – go and eat there…

The photo below is rubbish…………to be honest, I was so excited about the food and, was still buzzing from the quick sprint/dash around the corner to get cash which, Id forgotten would be needed to pay for lunch! doh!

This is the ‘Tamworth Ribs with Warm Pickled Cabbage’ from James Street South Bar+Grill

It was wonderful…..just wonderful…..the hurried picture does not do any justice what-so-ever!

If you need convinced by experts, Manuel does a far better review than me so, see what he thought when he visited - here and more recently with images here - or, see what Food Belfast thought here…….

James Street South Bar+Grill was superb – go and eat there…….do it!
