On Valentines Day with no warning, Radiohead announced their new album just a few days before it was due to be released….

Then they released it a day early! Who needs publicists and marketing when you are Radiohead and can do it the Radiohead way!!

The have kicked against the pricks effectively for years and as such, are unique – kind of – a bit!

But, most people either love Radiohead or are bemused by them! So, you will most likely either love this record or hate it. If you are a fan of the band and have stuck with them and embraced the abstract-ness that increases with every record then, I think you will eventually love it…….

I’ve listened to it about 6 or 7 times since Friday and……..well………..its Radiohead! The atmospherics, Yorke’s mumbling moaning vocals, the stuttering and disjointed techno beats, the distinct lack of Jonny Greenwood’s cranked guitar …….. all the things that have made them unique over the last decade and a bit! They are all here to enjoy/lament….

Ok, its not as instant as Ok Computer, Kid A or Nescafe Gold Blend but sometimes you need to really really get to know a record (or coffee) before you can appreciate it……

I literally have no idea why I made a coffee reference just there!

Anyway, its always worth the effort with Radiohead!
