I was playing my bass at lunch time today and thought Id confess something to you…..

Music has always been an idol for me!

Sure, when people ask me why I don’t play bass in Church I make all kinds of waffling excuses but………………they are rarely the truth (see, im a liar as well) …………

The thing is, I know what I am capable of and, how that sense of arrogance and pride in music would destroy me and others around me………..God has not called any of us to be opinionated twerps no matter how gifted we might be!

I am certain that music is an idol for some of the people in your music/worship ministry……………its part of the reason why they joined…………it might be why they are rarely around the Church community unless they are playing their instrument………..

And to those who are committed to taking the ‘praise and worship’ seriously as a small part of what we do in the Church?

Its soul destroying for them to have to watch twerps like me polishing our idol in front of everyone!
