The sun has finally appeared and with it we have been dragging our deck chairs (or rocking chairs)outside and scrambling for the perfect summer book. If you are an avid reader or someone who buys one book per year now is the time to get some reading done.
Reading helps you to develop your imagination, it gives you an insight in worlds and situation where you may never find yourself, it improves your vocabulary and your memory. Don’t know what to download onto you kindle, confused about which paperback is worth you time? Try these
For the girl who doesn’t read: “Is everyone hanging out without me” by Mindy Kaling. Easy, quirly and hilarious.
For the folks who have itchy feet: Anything by Bear Grylls or “Wild” by Cheryl Strayed. Both will inspire you to get outdoors for a hike.
For the serious book nerd: “Goldfinch” by Donna Tartt or something like “Battle Royale” by Koushun Takami will keep you going for marathon reading sessions.
For the ladies who a fretting over stepping onto the beach in a bikini: “True Beauty” by Carolyn Mahaney and Nicole Whitacre is better than any self help book.
A quick classic: “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury is a quick sci-fi classic along American masterpeice with “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee
For a good laugh: “The Diary of Adrian Mole” by Sue Townsend or anything by Nora Ephron. It is so difficult to predict what other people will find funny but I’m pretty sure either of these authors will make you crack a smile. . . hopefully!
For a non-reader: “Humans of New York” which is basically a photography project which soared in popularity due to the real life stories of the subjects.
There is a book out there for everyone. Relax this summer with a good book.
