So, our latest edition of the Church magazine? ….you can now have a look through a low-res pdf version here
I’ve never placed the entire magazine on my blog before…..it’s always available on the Church website so, I’ve not needed to make a big announcement here….and I don’t believe in self-promotion!
I am pretty proud of this issue though……….by that, I mean I am proud of our team…….the hard work, the hours of behind-the-scenes reading and editing, the way we work together seamlessly with no conflict and no ego-driven outbursts………it’s a blessing!
We aren’t journalists……and I’m only ‘half’ a designer……….but, that’s not important……and people will tell you that ‘creative’ folks are hard work? Well that’s a load of crap! People who are hard work are hard work! [that's a post for another time maybe]
Hey ho……when do we start the Christmas issue?

And of course, all the contributors
Yes, “people who are hard work are hard work”…. looking forward to reading more about this one someday…
Great magazine. Thanks.
please unpack!
“People who are hard work are hard work!”
great stuff!
Why do you reckon you’re only ‘half’ a designer? Because you work PT in FM?
Jonathan – I think its partly a self-conscious appreciation of how I am not ‘conventional’ – I’m not qualified or trained……..and many [especially here in N.I.] like to take issue with that in the creative world so…….therefore……..I often joke about it….nervously
Those people be numpties. Some of the world’s best designers have no formal schooling. Many of the worst, do…
Who are these many people? I’ve honestly never come across anyone taking issue with someone being “self-taught”. In my experience I’ve seen more the other way around, self taught designers, programmers etc seeing it as a point of pride that they don’t have any official qualifications.
I’ve been to Uni, I’ve a piece of paper that says I’m “Qualified”, but at the same time so do a lot of people I wouldn’t rate. All designers are “self-taught” just depends on the framework you did it in.
Either way “ye shall knowth the “creatives” by the quality of their fruits” – St Sans 1:5
Il introduce you to some of them sometime…………no. really…….it would be inappropriate of me to start telling you about the insulting berks that I have encountered over the years……….count yourself blessed to have missed out!
Berks, what a great word! I’m going to start using that. I’ve missed out encountering those people but I was once excluded from a group at Uni for not owning a Mac at the time. As we all know, real designers use Macs :-p
