Do I honour my elders? Do I open my heart to our leaders? Am I teachable? Do I obey and submit to leadership? Do I seek to follow the example of leaders? Do I pray for the leaders/elders?
“Leadership in the local church is established by God for the blessing of his people. However, for leadership to be effective, it needs to be encouraged and supported by the members of the church. Many faithful men have shipwrecked on the rocky shoals of incorrigible and resistant members. It ought not to be so among God’s people. Rather, healthy members of a local church should strive and encourage others to strive to follow their leaders with wide open hearts, eager obedience, and joyful submission.” [source]
I might write some more on this over the next while…….a recent comment from the pulpit about how we should “love our church” has got me asking myself some questions……
More soon!

Really challenging blog..look forward to reading more…totally agree with this but need to take a good look at my own attidutes….blessings
thanks Chris – its a challenge indeed
I’ve found that recently that there are a number of things in my own church that I have differing opinions on with the leadership, but I am also very aware that God has placed me in this church, and God has placed the leaders in the church, and I need to respect their authority as long as it isn’t against God or scripture.
I have freedom in Christ, but I may choose not to exercise those freedoms, for the mutual benefit of the community that I belong to….
Sorry, I tend to ramble sometimes….
makes sense Connor – no rambling!
