On my twitter profile it says that beards have been ‘making my face more interesting since 1997.‘ True story!
Check this……

I’ve been having a Spurgeon kind of year……reading Morning & Evening has been a wonderful blessing so far…..and last weekend I shared a short quote from him whilst we huddled together at the summit of Slieve Donard……..
There were also a few puritan paperback books to hand over the weekend so, in light of all this I wanted to highlight a new link/banner on the blog……..it’s in the sidebar………and, it rocks on over to ‘Bearded Gospel Men‘ which is a little side ‘project’ of Joe Thorn who also blogs here.
Joe wrote the book “Note to Self” – which I highlighted in this post - and, has kindly allowed me to place the banner here….
Why though? Well, for one, I’m with Joe on the following point….
“While I do believe facial hair is a God-given masculine adornment, I do not believe every man has to grow it out. Personally, I would love to see another great era of the beard.”
Here are his tips for growing a beard.
Men…..Get your beard on!

Love it… though all these old bearded gospel dudes make my beard look puny and rubbish, lol
I like my beard, but I’m getting the feeling that I can be a little vain about it sometimes.. And that some of these Gospel men probably were too..
Cant speak for every “bearded Gospel man” ever but Im pretty certain from reading Spurgeon & Ryle that vanity was not on the table in regard to their beards…..
I guess if its a problem for you, the beard should go until such times as you feel otherwise……..
thats what Id do…
