Over on Vince’s blog this was said recently
“The social web allows you to connect with people that you never would normally. Stoners, lawyers, accountants, students, bakers, politicians, musicians, celebrities, weirdos, creeps and geniuses. They’re all on Twitter and they’re all ready to be listened to.
Same thing with Facebook.
Same thing with blogs.
Same thing with Flickr.”
But do we do that? I think I’m trying…
I have been critical of those who endlessly post Bible verses/quotes on their twitter feed and who only ever quote Christian authors but then I could guess that a lot of them are only following Christians and are only being followed by Christians. The virtual patting of each others backs is bound to be just lovely!
I have grown up surrounded by and being part of the “Christian ghetto’s” – but to be fair, my Church background has nothing to do with that because we all seem to have this tendency to herd ourselves together in clubs and cliques, regardless of denominations – its a “Christian” bad-habit!
Example: I grew up around the kind of people who were completely unaware of things like ‘The Falklands War’ and ……. oh I could go on but its embarrassing that I even know such buffoons! I take that back….honest – but seriously, when you turn off the radio and throw out the Television you have to expect a lack of knowledge on world events.
The guest writer Justin Wise offers a few suggestions about how we can get out of these “Ghetto’s” – read his post here – very challenging
