Its kicking off in the Shack

the-shackI wasn’t a fan of the book despite the hype.

I don’t particularly like fiction anyway but my main issue – as unpopular as it is – was the casual heresy. But, this post is not about that…..

“William Paul Young’s bestselling novel about a father’s renewal of faith after suffering an unspeakable tragedy has spawned a tangle of lawsuits over royalties and even the book’s authorship.”

You can read the full story here.

This is pretty sad news but part of me is not surprised by the chaos that seems to have erupted. Before you jump to conclusions, i am not claiming that this is their reward for the heresy – though i am quite sure some will say that.

Its sad that Christians cannot be in business or partnership together!

Ok, i think we know that Christians can and do forge wonderful business partnerships that are full of integrity and honest practice BUT isn’t it sad that more often we just hear about the ones that end in disaster?

The amounts of money involved when you have sold millions of books is obviously huge – i have NO concept of how big that must make your ego but these folks are supposed to be Christians aren’t they?

I think this is why i am not surprised.

I have seen, experienced and know ‘Christians’ who turn into assholes when money is at stake! The reason?

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.”

I did like the book, thought it had some great illustrations. It really is very sad to hear about the business problems, doesn’t portray Christian businessmen very well.

I still haven’t read it. Doesn’t appeal to me at all.
However, this saga is very sad. But, the simple fact that they didn’t write up an offical agreement at the start of everything is the root problem. I’ve learnt the hard way, no matter WHO you’re dealing with, if money is involved, sign a legal contract.

I hate it when Christians fight in public. Or even at all.

    Hmmmm it’s all gone a bit PC hasn’t it…..

Seen it too many times that I think it’s almost ok to give up going to church, stop listening to ccm bilge and get a bad habit.

We look in on the sadness and the mentalness of it all and think is it any wonder post modernists are on the rise. Corruption like this only creates questions and more need to rebel against the sugar coated arsenic that this story and many other “Christian” partnerships foist upon us.

Gotta say Sy, i hear ya & know all to well that feeling of wanting to quit or throw in the towel!

In relation to the rioting in Belfast i saw a few comments saying ‘lost faith in humanity” and similar phrases and as i read this story that crossed my mind BUT then i thought “hang on, we are not supposed to have faith in humanity”

Don’t we expect way way too much of people? Christian or not, we still suck…..

i think thats why i said i was not surprised – i am less & less surprised by stuff like this and not because i think i am better but because we are all capable of being idiots and losers – me included..

Ah, Christians … I’d say crucify the lot of ‘em and be done with it, but I guess there’s no need when they’re busy crucifying one another. Gonna go get me a WTF wristband and go sit with Jesus outside on the wall…
