I have always been ‘kind of’ a Bowie fan liking certain albums but not absolutely everything he has made. This however, is without a doubt one of, if not his best work. Low has became critically acclaimed for its influence on a generation of synthesiser drenched music that would follow in the early 80′s. Its amazing that the record label allegedly  did not want Bowie to release this record and only did so after some persuasion!

Noel Gallagher has quit Oasis!

A statement on the band’s website read: “It is with some sadness and great relief that I tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer. Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan.”

Earlier this month Liam revealed his relationship with his brother is so bad they no longer speak, travel separately on tour and only see each other on stage.

Will this stick then? These guys have came to blows before & rumors of the band splitting and Noel going solo have been thrown around for years! So, what will happen now? Will the band continue without Noel? Thats unlikely! Will Noel go solo? That is a more likely scenario! Personally i reckon he will be on TV & radio more, entertaining us with his quick wit & harsh yet wise thoughts about life!

Whatever happens, i am a fan! I have been since 1994 & the first album. The arrogance & mayhem that seemed to be attached to them was probably one of the reasons why i loved them so much. The music, the attitude and the image was not original for a British band but that didn’t matter! Despite a dip in form and a couple of mediocre albums along the way i will fight their corner against anyone who says these guys are not one of the most important bands in British rock history. Noel Gallagher has written an amazing catalogue of songs during the Oasis years, there is no arguing that! I am not convinced that its over for the band though, time will tell i guess!

I reckon this is the best record i have heard so far in 2009. I posted a video clip of the band a few days ago! ‘It’s All Crazy! It’s All False! It’s All a Dream! It’s Alright’ is the fourth album from ‘mewithoutYou‘ and is on Tooth & Nail Records. The label resists the identification as a Christian record label, but it is within CCM & their product is available ‘almost’ exclusively through Christian retailers.

I do appreciate that some product is hard to promote in the UK, after all i did publish a post about that vicious cycle. In the case of these guys its kind of irrelevant as they are going on an indefinite hiatus after the current tour but the album came out in May & i HAD to buy it from Amazon at an import price!

Dear CCM; Surely there must be a better way? Are you JUST looking at previous album sales? Do you look at new artists & try to promote albums that sound great? In fact, have you even heard this album? I know its not the tried & tested lovely cliche filled lyrics that are essentially just pop songs for Jesus but they ARE killing ‘your’ industry.

However, maybe i have no idea what i am talking about?
